Sonically, the cat and mouse game Ron Dayvu (pronounced like “rendezvous”) and the woman who’s keeping him up waiting all night for her reminds me of a mix between J. Cole and Brockhampton. That is, it’s lyrically dense and rich, while still being a bop on the production side. Plus, the subject matter is relatable, as we’ve all been on the receiving end of late-night texts left on delivered or ignored altogether. It sucks, but it sure as hell makes for good music. “Waiting on You” showcases this “art born through heartache” philosophy well. I also feel this is a track that you want to hear a second part to, just to see if bruhman actually got the girl or if she left him on read.
The video (below) is also worth a watch. That’s because it adds even more context to the song. Plus, it’s sometimes just nice to see a fire song receive video treatment.
