Weston Estate Presents the Alt Pop Offering “Drown”

If you looked somewhere between The Weeknd, Prince, later PATD! and Maroon 5, you’d probably find “ya auntie’s favorite boyband” Weston Estate. The North Carolina-based quintet has an undeniable vibe to “Drown,” a song about summer love. That sort of thing can be important, even as the summer’s winding down. Love (even fleeting love) is eternal, after all.

The bass and guitar licks here are a thing of excellence. The song also takes the group’s summer adventures, both together and separate, and puts them to a melody, highlighting the fleeting beauty that is a summer romance. It’s a fun track, but one that doesn’t dilute its importance just to have fun.

The visuals (below) have a slight throwback feel to them as well, in the best way possible. In a few words, the visuals play like someone mixing One Direction with Brockhampton. They’re airy, but also dense in the content presented. If you’re like me and you like your pop with a bit of an alternative edge, check this one out and support dope music in all its forms.
