Family Habits Presents Mackerel Sky

Father-and-son duo Family Habits’ “Mackerel Sky” is one of those neo-soul tracks that’s fun but also has a lot to say. While they express “desire [to] life practically,” they also realize that “their nature …often leads to daydreaming.” I like that, because it’s true for most of us. We have these big ideas and big dreams, but sometimes get lost within them.

However, like the song says, that’s okay (even if it keeps you stagnant every so often). Sometimes, we need to let our body be free, like Mary J Blige said on “Family Affair,” and just enjoy the life we’re given instead of racking our brains for ways to achieve our goals. I love the jazziness of the track as well, as it’s perfect for late-night playlists. Check out the track below and support dope music in all its forms.
