King Vee Presents “Red Button”

I like this one because it’s a mix between Roddy Ricch emotional Autotuned rap and inspirational multisyllabic rap. It’s a mix that wouldn’t seem like it’d work, because the two styles are a bit contrasting. However, as we’ve seen in hip-hop, contrasting styles work well together. Em and Elton John after Em wanted to “prove” he wasn’t a homophobe, Beyonce and Megan the Stallion on “Savage (Remix).” Hell, look at Lupe and KRIT on “Lost Generation” (and their later collaborations).

Rap is built on combinations that seem like they wouldn’t work on paper, but then proceed to “walk this way” and be awesome. Vee’s lyrics and his emotional chorus blend well to create a song that’s deep but also a bop. The song is mainly about the “value of hard work,” but it’s one of those tracks that also showcases who Vee is as a human and an artist. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
