“Wages” is a track that’s equally about “self-confidence and persistence…as [people] overcome daily challenges” as it is about transcending race, gender and location to create good music. I like the production here, but I also just love the lyricism and the subject matter. It’s a feelgood, anthemic sort of track–but one that’s also full of “lessons to live by.”
The sound of this one leans heavily into UK hip-hop and grime, but also manages to still have a heavy helping of boombap as well. I enjoyed the message and the lyrics presented, mainly because they truly do transcend a lot of boundaries to create what you get on “Wages.” Check out the whole thing below and support dope music in all its forms. Once this post goes live, the track should also be on your favorite DSPs.
