Canadian artist Dax is an interesting artist, as he’s vocally sound while he still raps pretty damn well. I may not always feature his songs. However, I appreciate his vibes and the message he’s trying to get out there.
His latest song, “Depression,” is a deeply personal track. It channels his feelings and depression to speak on a big topic. The video is also pretty intriguing, as it finds Dax going through a major depressive episode and trying to find things that’ll help him feel “normal.” From therapy to medication to prayer, he’s willing to try it all.
Honestly, all three worked for me. My God is one who is almighty and can help anyone who’s suffering see the light–especially if they’re willing to help themselves start it off. Therapy helps me think about my mental health concerns and things that go on in my life. The medications help balance my moods a lot better than the alternatives (self-medication, not doing anything, etc.). I’ve chronicled my journey (a lot), but I still have people coming to me saying that I’m helping them by chronicling my mental health journey. It makes me who I am (for better or worse), but I choose to use it for better.
