Charlie Watson Ponders the World’s Fate on “2052”

Sometimes, we need a little pessimism to get us to turn our lives around. “2052,” the debut release from UK singer Charlie Watson, views life as we know it as a one-way ticket to extinction. Charlie said that this one would be “sure to draw attention,” and I don’t think he’s wrong. After all, the song flat-out states that we’ll be dead by 2052–especially if we can’t change our ways. Heck, it may be too late in some views; we’ve screwed up.

It’s a very emotionally-heavy song, one that vocally and lyrically creates a clash with the somewhat upbeat instrumentation. It’s kind of a war within, as Charlie is a self-described “happy positive guy,” though he knows the world we’re in can be rough.
