Matt Nye and Mark Vasquez, when they link, make great music. Nye, fresh off solo efforts such as “Liquor for the Dead,” and Vasquez give us an anthem for those who’re going through it–but still manage to do the important things. It’s grown-man rap, with a touch of comedic relief from the hook and Nye’s verse. Both artists want the finer things in life. They both want better from the lives they’re living. However, they won’t sit here complaining about not having those better things because the important things (like paying bills and other adulting-related tasks) are golden at the moment.
Vasquez describes this song as “if [smiling] through the pain was a song.” I think that more than adequately sums up “Everything’s Good.” We’ve all been in this scenario, as well, hence its very relateable nature.
