A track from his Medication Time project, “Face The Beat” finds MoCity Jones facing his inner demons while “dealing with the struggles of society.” It’s also featuring of some biting criticisms of our society. A couplet on the song goes “another day, another rapper shot down dead / the more it happens, the less I get astounded.” I felt that, especially considering how many rappers we’ve lost to gun violence over just the last few years. It’s f*cking sick, when you think about it. So we all have to “face the beat” and realize that what we’re putting into ourselves, it impacts those around us.
