DC native Davy Fresh’s “Black Designer” is equal parts “we can do this fashion ish pretty damn well” and sheer opulence. It’s that rich taste that helps separate this from other songs like it. A song from Davy’s Richmond Avenue album, “Designer” sounds like it’d be right at home on any walkway or smoke session. That diversity helped me give this one an extended listen. Sonically, it sounds like Wale meets Curren$y with a bit of Rick Ross (again, for the opulence). It’s a sound and style that works incredibly well here, one that’ll make you nod your head and want to go out to your favorite boutique and cop something.
