This one? It’s Christian hip-hop with a slightly rough edge (partly because of its heavy secular vibes on the bars and flow and partly because of the sped-up sample). I don’t say that to belittle Juss’ contribution to hip-hop with this one. In fact, I’ve always liked my CHH to have an edge to it (a/k/a have secular influences, sound-wise, while also giving many thanks and all the glory to God He deserves).
As I’ve said before, I’m never going to be the “perfect” Christian; I drink, I have premarital relations and I curse like a sailor. However, I still keep God in my life (and not just when things are good–nor just when things are getting rough). Without His guidance, even with my flaws, I would’ve been out of here a long time ago. I think that’s also the vibe Juss went for. He doesn’t anoint himself as being greater than the next man. Nor does he condemn those who haven’t found the light. He just says “thank you God for my opportunities” and shares that with listeners.
