When you know you love someone, you feel as if you and them are the only people in the world. When they touch you, your synapses start firing full blast. When they kiss you, your mind’s taken to another plane of existence. And when you and that person engage is NSFW activity, you connect in a way that two literally becomes one–down to the atomic level. The self-produced “Atoms” features London artist BVDHI delving into this sort of love (and lovemaking).
Overall, “Atoms” is pure, unadulterated sensuality. From the sound down to its very core, this is meant to make you turn Demon Time into something heavenly. Sonically, it reminds me of that thump-in-the-trunk era of mellow R&B (think Weeknd, SZA, Bryson Tiller to a degree). Additionally, the production isn’t overly sparse, but it’s thankfully not overproduced. It finds that happy medium between late-90s-to-early-2000s R&B that had that proto-drill and Neptunes sound and more-recent, more-melancholy vocal offerings. Lyrically, you’re given SZA-meets-Ari Lennox-esque vibes with a huge dose of that playful-yet-hornily-serious energy you’d get from someone like Janet Jackson. Seeing as I’m a Janet fan, this one is magical for me. Aided by fellow artists Aamir and Leloo, this sexy track made this No-Fi King want to grab a Shawty, be a Thundercat and connect like Gurren Lagann out this piece. I said what I said.
At any rate, you should give “Atoms” some undivided attention and support dope music in all its forms.
