New Music: The Dopeness I Missed This Week

Kanye isn’t the only one who’s has new music.

First up, we’ve got a track from MRG, “How I Feel,” produced by Fortune. The track has a really cool ’90s feel with MRG hitting a pseudo-double-time. A “Ms. Right-for-Now” track is always cool for the weekend. Just make sure you choose wisely.

Speaking of choosing wysely, Jay Wyse took a shot on Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” with “All Year ’16.” The Nine Twenty Five artist seems to not take a day off, considering Nine just dropped a couple days ago. If you’re rocking with that project, check this out. If you’ve never heard of Wyse, this is a pretty solid introduction.

Baltimore artist Jay Verze keeps with the time theme of this piece with the Rip Knoxx-produced “24-7.” I love the filtered sample over those plodding, heavy-ass drums. Additionally, the track has a real anthem feel to it. Put it in your whip and ride around the city.

DMV record label Snee Life dropped the Flight 357 tape recently. H/T to +DMVLIFE.com for putting me on to this one. While the project dropped late January, I was made aware of it this week so…yeah, it’s new to me. It’d got some catchy tracks on it and the production is pretty radio-ready, as is every other track featured here.

While on Spinrilla, I came across Taz’s second project, Just Different. Hopefully, he doesn’t take offense, but he reminds me of some mix between a young T.I. and Big Sean. Check it out. He seems young, so he still seems to be finding his voice. However, he’s a lot more solid than some rookies in this game. Peep it.

Closing out, Baltimore artist and Freebandz member Test dropped his TTAFT (To The Art From Test) project. Like Freebandz founder Future, Test has a pretty solid grasp on that melodic style of rap that made Future big. Stay tuned to this young man. Trust me.

If you want to be featured on SpeedontheBeat.com (and I haven’t found your music on my own), read the submission guidelines and then send submissions to my email.
