And that’s how we get to LijahOVO’s “Trapping By My Lonely.” I heard of the Toronto/Baltimore artist a while ago via sites like MusicOnTheDot, but never went into his discography intensively. However, I got this one in my inbox and gave it a listen.
The track is mesmerizing. It grabbed me off its first few chords and said “Speed, you’re gonna listen to this track and you’re going to like it.” And I did, as the track gave me an insight into Lijah’s life story and his motives. Most of the video, however, features Lijah posing with heat and rapping, as to fully realize the “by my lonely” motif of the track. I get it, but the visuals aren’t as strong as the song is.
That’s not to say that the visuals are weak. But if it was a mini-movie or something along those lines, I’d be more inclined to gush about the visual component. Again, that’s just my opinion. However, the song is, in itself, pretty dope and should be checked out. So you know what to do. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
