Lex Rush teams up with NYC producer Shaky Fingers and fellow artist Blake The Skorp to provide us with some pretty distinctly New York vibes. I’m a huge fan of Shaky’s straight from the 90s-meets-straight from the 2010s production. This style gives listeners something they’d expect on a Wu tape one second and something Blu-esque the next while still being original in its approach. Lex’s bars are sharp as always and Blake’s choruses compliment the rest of the project well, as the sing-songy aspect blends in versus clashing with the production.
If I had one thing to nitpick about, it’d be this. While the bars and the production are great, some of Lex’s bars get washed out by the beat(s). This especially happens with bars on “Told You So,” an otherwise hard-hitting track. However, it’s still a pretty dope project and gives us more bars from one of my personal favorite indie artists.
