New SOTBMusic: @SamAustins Returns with ANGST

Take The Weeknd and mix him with Jeremih at his best and you have the best way to describe Sam Austins’ ANGST EP without spoiling too much. As I mentioned in a previous review of his stuff, Austins takes the “trapsoul” genre and puts it on its head for the world to see. That happens here as well. However, it’s not all about the trapsoul revamping.
For instance, the haunting “videogames” feels like something out of the 808s & Heartbreak sessions and is unlike anything Austins has put out before. It’s because of that track alone that I have to say that this is worth a listen. Yes, the rest of the project is solid and showcases what Austins can do as an artist. But “videogames” feels like an evolution in his sound and a foreshadow of things to come, especially when paired with the outro track “sonoma.” Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
