When your song interpolates a Nas bar, you’ve got some big shoes to fill. Thankfully, for me and for the artist himself, D.C.’s Stealf Soulja does so and does so well. A song that’s designed to “save the city from itself,” Stealf speaks on the dangers that are infecting his city and aims to heal those within it through his bars. It’s ambitious, especially if people aren’t seeing that these things mentioned are actually issues. However, it’s a track that I’m rocking with; Stealf rocks the mic well and has even more bass in his voice than usual on this one. You can feel the pain and the desire to change things up in each line. This is a definite departure from his Stoned Introvert project, and the growth here is welcomed. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
