New SOTBMusic: @newmantsa Delivers Some Postcards

North Carolina’s Newman dropped two loosies recently and wrapped them up into a nice bow called Postcards 002, as part of his Postcards series of tracks. Check out the first collection here. The duo of tracks in 002 are different from the first iteration, as they have a J. Cole meets KIDS SEE GHOSTS feel to them. They’re dark and boombap-influenced, but there’s an underlying darkness unseen on some of Newman’s other tracks. That’s especially prevalent on the first track “Paul Revere.” My gripe with these tracks is that I feel cheated by the shortness. Newman gets into a groove, then we get disconnected. Maybe it’s intentional, since they’re only “postcards” and postcards tend to give a few brief details and a “wish you were here” ending.

With that in mind, it’s still a duo of tracks worth listening. Listen to Postcards 002 below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
