True God has been busy since our last discussion on the site. This past weekend, he dropped his first “live album,” The Soul Revue Experience. A concept album of sorts, SRE finds True spitting love, heart, and soul over more live instrumentation (and singing).

It’s not your typical True album, as there’s less of a focus on soul samples and more of an emphasis on creating a vibe. It’s an intimate affair, like many True albums before it. However, there’s a rawness to this project that I haven’t seen from him in this way in a while, especially on the three-part song “Dinner and a Movie.” When those DAR boys get in their bag, they get in their bag (as one, I should know).
