Happy 2020, SOTB Faithful (all tree of y’all). There’s literally no better way to bring in the new year than having something new and shiny to talk about, be it a new job, a new lease on life, or, in Stealf Soulja’s case, new music. Stealf channels J. Cole a bit on this track, taking a radio-ready beat from dB and running down reasons why he’s sicker than your average.
However, that’s not all the track entails. If it were, it’d still be a cool track, but Stealf goes above and beyond here.
We’re given a bit of an internal struggle: Stealf wants the money and the fame, but doesn’t want to come off as just another rapper who’s in it for the money. The self-proclaimed “underdog triggerman” needs for the world to recognize his gift, but he also wants to stay to himself as an introvert. This war gives us a fire track, full of Stealf’s signature multisyllabic rhymes and melodies.
