C.Shreve the Professor and Ile Flottante Discuss Falsehoods on “Double Blind”

C.Shreve the Professor’s latest project is a collaborative effort with UK producer Ile Flottante. The project, ILE.Pro, drops later this month. As they usually do, the FTO team was kind enough to send the second single from the project, “Double Blind,” my way. On the smooth instrumental, Shreve discusses the lies and negative energies some perpetuate and how we must all see the truth for ourselves.

Walking a fine line between kumbaya moments and revolution by any means, Shreve admits to some privilege as a white rapper and uses that to reach his audience about issues he feels are important–specifically the fact that Black lives are valuable and must be respected. Ile’s production helps put this one in the sweet spot for Shreve’s work, since it’s jazzy and boombap-influenced but still sonically feels contemporary. Shreve’s been one of my favorite indie artists for years at this point and “Double Blind” is another notch on that belt.
