Oakland rapper JThurston hit my line this morning with his newest track, “Kings and Gods.” Now, I’d be lying if I said I’d heard of the brother before today. However, I’m glad that he hit me up to feature his track. Why? Simply put, “Kings and Gods” is about three minutes of the rapper attacking the beat and rapping his ass off about the many false gods and kings we have parading around in hip-hop these days. Lyrically, he’s sharp, opting to not have as many punchlines but still build a world that listeners can immerse themselves within. It’s a solid track and one that definitely wants me to keep on the lookout for what he does next. Check out “Kings and Gods” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
