Now, anyone who knows me knows that Blu is one of my favorite artists of all-time. I mean, I still play Below the Heavens as if it were just released and Blu inspires my work to a degree. I got this Blu-aided track, “Hell Lows and High Heavens” from Coconut Wolf and Erin Outfield recently. When I say it gives me Blu & Exile vibes, I mean it.
Down to the brass-heavy beat, this one wouldn’t feel out of place on that classic album. However, what makes it different from just another callback is that Coconut Wolf’s verse goes in depth about traumatic experiences (giving us some hell lows) while also showcasing why he’s still standing among the heavens. Blu comes in to close out the track with a typically amazing verse and ties everything together neatly. It’s a beautiful song featuring one of my favorite artists, so I had to write about it. Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
