The submission for WHYYOUNGN’s “D A R L E N E” stated that the NYC rapper found himself shooting the video in a subway station to “align himself with the city at its most elemental.” When you put it like that, you’d better deliver and “D A R L E N E” does this in spades.
From a jagged delivery to the hustle and bustle of the subway scenes, the visuals seem to live and breathe NYC. As someone who recently just came from the City, I got to experience the best NYC had to offer while also gaining a newfound respect for the denizens of New York City. They’ve been through a lot, have seen a lot, and have been falsely portrayed as huge assholes by a lot of media. However, New Yorkers are communal and embrace each other (and out-of-towners) with respect and a sense of camaraderie. Check out “D A R L E N E” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
