Verze’s latest, “Energy,” starts off with the Baltimore native lighting up. Like Wayne’s flick of the Bic, I should’ve been prepared for what was about to unfold. That said, sometimes going in blind is the best way to discover new music.
“Energy” is Verze’s latest single, which features the rapper attacking the beat like it was his first day out. Lyrically, Verze has never been a slouch; flow-wise, neither. However, he’s been quietly putting both together over the last year or so to create some pretty incredible music. “Energy” continues this trend over a mandolin(?)-heavy backing beat. It does, however, leave you wanting more from the artist–not in a bad way, though. The track clocks in at just over two minutes, and while not a second is wasted, you’re still like “damn, where’re the rest of his songs at?”
We may not have to wait for long, since Verze’s Already Written EP is slated to drop soon. For the time being, let’s indulge in the energy and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
