We know the SOTB mantra: support dope music in all its forms. It’s what I’ve preached since the beginning of the site (even if I didn’t always say it). When something moves me, regardless of whether it’s commercial or underground, I post about it either here or in my IG story. That’s the case with Big Boss Vette’s self-titled anthem, which officially dropped last week. I didn’t really have space for it on the site, but the bass knocked and the song was solid. I featured it on my IG feed, not knowing that there’d be a video dropping this week.
Now, the video’s not avant-garde or anything. Thankfully it’s not, because not everything needs to be artsy fartsy 100% of the time. And the video for “Big Boss Vette” doesn’t need to be artsy fartsy. It just needs to knock like the bass. The creator of the visuals, a director named Fonzy, understood the assignment, as they made a magnetic visual to go along with the magnetic song Vette’s performing. Everything’s a shade of pink/purple, there are frenetic camera cuts and effects applied to the visuals (as if the 808s are making the Earth quake) and the whole thing is a sight to see. It’s one of those high-energy anthems that makes people know who you are and what you’re about (think a bit like Latto’s “Bitch From Da Souf”), so it needed appropriate shaking visuals. Check them out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
