Saga’s “1,000 Yard Stare” is a song that expresses frustration towards the state of the world. It’s a simple premise, yes. However, the way that he goes about it makes this more than your standard “the world sucks” sort of track.
Lyrically, he and his feature attack the way things are and the way things are going. It’s a solid track in a lot of ways. Sonically, the beat reminds me of that gritty grimy mid-1990s NYC type of sound–which is probably because Saga himself hails from Brooklyn. Flow-wise, both artists featured tear the track up with hot lyrics and impressive rhyme schemes. What I liked the most about this track is that it’s not afraid to talk about reality and the effed up way some parts of it are going right now.
