Normally, I’d say that three beat changes in a song is a bit excessive and doing too much. It’s usually because they aren’t done in a way that’s, for a lack of a better word, good. Stuff just feels thrown together when there are that many beat changes. And yes, I know that True and I have several suite songs like this. This is why I can say that quite a few three-to-four-beat songs are OD. I’ve made quite a few and understand how difficult it can be.
However, it fits on Will Cherry and Peachcurls’ “Rememory” in a way that takes me back to those True x Speed sessions of the early 2010s.
This one features a plethora of heartfelt lyrics that deal with the experiences that help shape us, the positive ones and especially the negative ones. In fact, this one’s a soulful track that deals with the stages of grief and acceptance while finding our purposes. From life to death to rebirth, Cherry and Peachcurls cover it all in a realistic and beautifully soulful way while also detailing how some of those negative moments can have long-lasting effects on us, down to a cellular level. I won’t give a lot of the story away, because that’s the major draw for “Rememory.” However, if this mini-review has piqued your interest, check out the track below and support dope music in all its forms.
