Skatta and Oddisee Make Their Claim to the Track of the Year

The UK and DC connect on this one, Skatta and Oddisee’s “Track of the Year.” Over a sample-heavy production, Skatta raps quite well about who he is, who he wants to be and why he’s going to get everything that’s owed to him. Oddisee provides a typically impressive verse to close out the song. Now what really got me going is this: yes, the hook is chant-ready, but the verses built around the hook(s) are just as impressive and full of moments that can be repeated.

It’s a bombastic claim to excellence while also just being a bop in general. In other words, it’s good music that should be played as loud as possible. The video is also pretty cool, mainly because of the somewhat stopmotion approach to it. The visuals come off like a comic and feature the duo of artists traversing the universe.
