Julian Atwater has been busy the last few weeks. His song “BEND” hit SOTB about a month ago. He’s back with a new one, “Forgetful.” As the title’d suggest, Atwater channels Earl on a flow and lyrical level and De La Soul with the mix between harmonizing and lyrically-impressive hip-hop. I love how, towards the end of the track, his voice becomes a bit more strained and urgent-sounding, as if to say “I’m nearing my limit, but I’ll keep pushing.” If his next songs are this dope, I’d like to think that the rhymesayer will have a great path in front of him.
He takes some things he believes are deep and profound, talks about them and also talks about how it’s easy to forget where you’ve been/where you’re going when others get in the way. However, like “BEND,” Atwater refuses to break. Check out “Forgetful” below and support dope music in all its forms. If you like this one, you should also give his new project a spin as well.
