“Who says you can’t find love in the club” is the way Sly Rankin starts off his latest track, “Family Matters,” a beautiful song about love, life and family. I love the neo-soul boombap instrumental. It kind of reminds me of Common’s “The Light” in presentation and overall energy. Sly tells us the story of how he met his special someone, how they grew together and how they’re creating life and breaking generational curses together.
I love it because I’m here for Black love and I’m also here for pro-familial talk in verses. This is definitely a track I needed to hear today–and it’s one that’s good for your soul(s), too. So, do the thing: support dope music in all its forms and check it out.
