I can’t really put the vibes of King Garbage’s “Busy on a Saturday Night” into one category, because the song and its accompanying video blend so much into their four-and-a-half minute runtime. From old-school jazz-funk fusion to neo-soul and pretty much everywhere in between, the song is captivating and begs you to dance along like no one’s watching and get what you want–even if it’s not really what you need. I love the CCTV-meets-Zoom video, because it helps bring the lyrics full-circle and gives them an extra layer.
King Garbage is the brainchild of producers Zach Cooper and Vic Dimotsis, who’ve worked with artists such as SZA, Ellie Goulding and Billy Porter. That wide-reaching range works in their favor because, again, the song doesn’t really stick to one genre. It’s amazing in that way. So if you’re in the market for some unlike-anything-else neo-soul-tinged music, this one should be right up your alley. Check out the visuals below and support dope music in all its forms.
