On “Goblin Slime,” Burrowthemage Channels His Inner RPG Fan to Discuss Saving Hip-Hop

I love this one. The reasoning is two-fold: I mainly love it because it’s fire lyricism but also because there’s a lot of RPG/fantasy elements within it. Burrow knows how to grab me, because his bars are solid and ever-ready, while his wordplay and imagery is also top-notch.

This one takes place in the lair of a rap dragon whose bars are up for grabs–at least that’s how it seems to a group of bandits. Seeing that I just finished the classic 90s anime series Slayers not too long ago, I’m always here for some bandit-roasting. As an aside, Lina Inverse does it so well, if you’ve never seen the Slayers series (it’s a mix of deep fantasy and humor).

Back to “Goblin Slime,” the wordplay and the storytelling here is definitely nothing to sneeze at. In fact, it’s one of the best storytelling tracks I’ve heard this year. I’m also a fan of this one because it was done all in a DIY setting (y’all know how much I love that grittiness). Check it out above and support dope music in all its forms.
