Above, we’ve got the latest single from Fly Anakin, the final one from his upcoming Frank album. If you liked his previous singles, this one should also keep you bobbing your head. If this is the first time you’ve heard of Anakin, “Black Be The Source” is a perfect introduction, as it’s Black AF while also being soothing and smooth at the same time. Featuring Pink Siifu and Billz Egypt, “BBTS” is one of those songs that’ll get stuck in your head but also make you think at the same time. That’s because it’s woke without being fake with it and lyrically impressive (which is expected when you get Fly Anakin on a track).
The visuals, shot in New York City, feature the trio converging on a church to deliver their sermons on why Blackness needs to always be celebrated. Additionally, we get a lesson on why Black people are the source of many of the great things that’ve made their way into the consciousness of this country. I also love the fact that the video puts a bevy of Black people being trendsetters, creatives and geniuses within it. There are so many references that the video may require several watches to catch everything Anakin and his cohort are putting down.
This one is my favorite out of the tracks Anakin’s dropped for Frank because it’s timely but also timeless. It’s beautiful music about Blackness and why we all need to appreciate it. Check out the visuals above and remember to support dope music in all its forms. If you’re a fan of the drops Anakin’s put out thus far, Frank is due out on March 11th.
