The DMV has made its mark recently with hip-hop, but we mustn’t forget that the DMV and Baltimore Metro Area both have a lot of history in soul and R&B as well. I mean, from Marvin Gaye to Dru Hill to Ari Lennox, the area’s had its fair share of “sangers.” Sunny Cowell seems to continue this legacy with her smooth-but-forceful “Here With Me,” which features on her upcoming Anthology of Love album.

This one is important as well as sonically pleasing. That’s because the album proper is being released on TT The Artist’s Club Queen Records and features additional production from Mighty Mark (who’s, along with TT, has been making his name known outside of Baltimore quite a lot recently). The booming drums and Sunny’s guitar and viola skills intertwine to create a sound unlike any other, but also somewhat familiar. All in all, it’s a sweet song, but one that’s also powerful enough to put you under its spell almost instantaneously.
