Over a thumping beat from Torontonian producers The Quarter Inch Kings, Boston’s M-Dot (who recently graced SOTB with his “Blood Sweat and Tears” visuals) gives us a bit of old-school conscious vibes. “Stop Watch” is an impressive song that sound like a mix between Talib Kweli and Jedi Mind Tricks with a bunch of old-school boombap for good measure. The song itself is more about the value of time and how it sometimes doesn’t get the same respect as money or, well, respect.
This one, another Dining in Dystopia single features M-Dot and Revalation just rapping their asses off about using time to your advantage while also taking the time to savor each victory. I love the energy that “Stop Watch” presents because it’s one of those tracks that’ll grab you and not let you go until the very end of it, asking you to take its words to heart.
If you’re in the mood for a lyrical barrage that talks about one of the best things in life, check this one out and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
