This one is over a gritty boombap beat originally produced by Bah Label for Hus KingPin. On “The Gram Tape Dub,” Canadian rhymesayer SeAn Prominent proceeds to drop about two minutes of equally gritty lyricism to differentiate himself from some of the other Canadian lyricists. I like this one because SeAn’s got lyrics for days and his somewhat laidback flow works wonders here. He sounds more like he’s having a conversation with the listener versus just yelling about how he’s better than the next man.
I also like how Prominent rides the beat, because it’s smooth but also mature. That is, he sounds like an elder statesman versus just some other rapper dropping knowledge. If you’re into lyricism and knowledge, check this one out and support dope music in all its forms.
