Over about two-minutes, Midwestern artist Zay Lewis attacks a soul sample to provide optimism to himself, listeners and the proverbial Coretta to his “King.” I think what grabbed me the most on this one was probably the beat, which Lewis co-produced. The sample is perfect and allows for Lewis to float and just speak on his truths.
It’s one of those tracks that you do still wish was longer, even though it doesn’t overstay its welcome in the slightest. I’d honestly prefer if it had a few more bars–if only to give listeners even more of an incentive to listen. However, the song’s a great one, one that’ll get you up off your butt and ready to face the day’s challenges.
You can’t really ask for much more than that from music, if we’re being real. If it moves you, it’s perfect and this one? It moves me. Check it out above and support dope music in all its forms.
