Okay, maybe the title of this piece is a bit of a lie because throughout the visuals for “It’s So Real,” we often find the group living mundane lives similar to the way Mr. and Mrs. Incredible did for most of the two Incredibles films. From picking up groceries to picking up toys, the New Zealand group’s visuals are more about finding the super within the ordinary. I mean, not every man would be okay with using his “superpower” to be a stay-at-home dad. But in “It’s So Real,” we celebrate the ordinary and the regular as being more extraordinary than we’d typically think. It’s a beautiful song, when you get down to the lyrics.
Plus, the song’s funky. Honestly, it reminds me a bit of a mix between Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Silk Sonic. That’s a helluva mix, but it’s one that definitely works here. That’s because it walks that line between psychedelic jam band and pure funk. Check out the visuals below and support dope music in all its forms.
