Above, we have the latest from indie artist Cozmic Avenue, the twinkling-in-the-dark song known as “Satellite.” A song about wanting to be a light in the dark for people who feel hopeless, Cozmic Avenue’s lyrics cut through the soundscape with precision and carefully-chosen words about how life can go. Either you can spend your entire life trying to be something you’re really not…or you can stop fooling yourself and strive for greatness. At least, that’s what I got from the song. It follows a verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge format, which allows for two distinct stories to be told throughout the first three minutes of the song.
Written during a dark moment in the artist’s life, “Satellite” finds Avenue beckoning out to the rest of the world. In doing so, it’s as if he’s letting people who have fallen down that they can get back up. Their lives aren’t over, not by a long shot. If you’re in the mood for mostly-clean conscious rap, I think you should give this one a go. Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
