Ed. Note: this one is not safe for work.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a person finds someone who’s toxic in a lot of ways. However, even with the toxicity, the sex keeps them coming back because they’re, for a lack of a better term, pussywhipped or dickmatized. It happens more often than people will let you think. Hell, even I’ve been in a situation where I prioritized the sex with someone over their toxicity. Thankfully, I opened my eyes and I’m now pretty damn happy with my current situation. However, I’ll always empathize with people who get caught up over sex.
I originally declined on posting Jada Kingdom’s “Dickmatized.” That wasn’t because of the subject matter, but because I thought it was a bit too on the pop-meets-dancehall spectrum. After sitting with it for a few weeks and, eventually, seeing the visuals for the song, I changed my mind. I found myself humming the melody and thinking about those situations I used to find myself in.
Now, the visuals for “Dickmatized” find Kingdom in what appears to be a tiny room, letting her feelings be known. There doesn’t seem to be any real exit from the room aside from a small window. That’s kind of what the feeling’s like when you’re caught up over sex; you know you should leave, but the sex too bomb for you to do anything. Eventually, you figure out what you really want and you break free. But, as Kingdom sings, sometimes you don’t leave because you don’t want to rack up anymore of a body count. Like I said, I empathize with the song, hence me posting it. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
