Over a guitar loop that’s both simple and emotionally complex, Yelaboi Tommy tells his story of growing up in Western Sydney. The brother’s melodic nature on this one is great. That’s because it allows the bars to just float out of him. The song is only about two minutes long, but, like many of the shorter songs I post on SOTB, nothing’s wasted. If I had to pick a comparison for this one, I’d say it sounds like a mix between Yung Bleu and Polo G. It’s got an edge to it, but one that’s mellowed out by the guitar licks throughout the song.
“LSS” is a bit different from what you’d typically get from YBT. That’s because his sound is usually a bit rougher around the edges and reminds you more of a mix between Polo G and Meek. I like this one because it shows diversity to his sound as well as inspires you. It’s as if the song says “I made it out. So can you.” Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
