I love when people hit me up via email, DM or SubmitHub and say “hey, Speed thank you for what you do for indie artists.” While I’ve never done anything for accolades, it feels good to hear other people toot your horn. With that in mind, above is the latest song from indie artist The Mighty Capeech, “Get Mines.” The Relic-produced track gets in touch with Capeech’s inner ’90s hip-hop head and delivers a track that’s bound to get you up and get you out the door.
Sonically, it sounds like something you’d hear Premo produce and Mobb Deep rap over. Now, you know me: I’m always here for 90s-homaging hip-hop. That is, as long as it still breaks new ground. Capeech’s track is firmly planted in the old-school, but still upbeat and lyrically sound to the point it doesn’t sound out of place in a playlist from 2022 or beyond.
If you need something to take you back for a bit, this one’s for you. Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
