Sonically, I enjoyed this SOTBMusic debut from Canadian singer/songwriter Pharaoh Soul because it sounds like a mix between Frank Ocean, Jason Mraz and Mac Miller. Thematically, I loved this song because it’s about doing something we all sometimes fail on: giving ourselves love and admiration as much as others get and give to us. It’s an honest look into Soul’s, well, soul, and how he plans to heal from some of his previous issues and traumas through love, life and music. It’s a beautifully-done song, one that’s as catchy as it is thought-provoking. In a world sometimes ruled by likes and retweets, he stands up and says “there’s more to life than your phone screen or what others think of you.” Check out the song below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
