On “WOAH,” rapper Datta Boy teams with teen artist T-Real and R&B singer Lavay Cole to create a whole vibe. I know, I said I wouldn’t use that type of terminology to discuss songs. I guess I lied (see what I did there?), since there’s really no better way to describe this one other than to say “it’s a vibe.” It’s a song that has an great deal of energy to it. It’s one of those tracks that’s focused on good times, a bit of sexiness and an overall feeling to it that reminds me of BLXST and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Chosen.”
I mean that in the best way possible because that song was a bop and still is.
Check out the visuals, which are pretty cool, fun and funny in their own right. I won’t give anything away, but they’re, to me, a bit reminiscent of an adventure you would’ve seen in Insecure or an early-2000s Black comedy. Listen/watch below and support dope music in all its forms. “WOAH” features on Datta’s West LA Proverbs, out now on your favorite DSPs. If you’re rocking with this, I recommend checking out the project to get something different as well.
