Over four tracks, Tracy Lamont gives listeners a “warm…and refreshing” sound, that allows Lamont to rap his ass off over intricate production from his in-house engineer Muz. The project is a precursor to Lamont’s Does Anyone Make Mixtapes 2 album, which is due out later this year. If it’s anything like RoR, we’re going to have some bouncy alternative vibes with heavy doses of poignant lyricism.
From the “Roses Intro” through the “Rice Outro,” Lamont makes it known that he’s aiming to be here for a long time, not just a good time while also showcasing what, for me, made me want to highlight his “Pray” single about a month back. Overall, it reminds me of Blu and Exile or–to make things more personal–the halcyon days where True and I would collaborate on everydamnthing. A track that stands out to me is “HIBACHI” as it has a flavor to it that’s Asian-influenced without sounding stereotypical and is a fresh take on alternative hip-hop from where I’m standing. Check out the project below, be on the lookout for Lamont’s album later this year and support dope music in all its forms.
