Happy Sunday everyone. If you’re celebrating this fine Summer weekend, go you. It’s a beautiful weekend for family, grilling and all that jazz. Just like how Juneteenth weekend was beautiful. If you’re celebrating America’s independence, remember that quite a people within this country weren’t free until about a hundred years later. Some still aren’t afforded the same freedoms as others. Let’s be real here. Without getting too deep, I just want everyone to be able to enjoy the same things as everyone else. That is, I want that without being some being told they can’t just exist without fear. That’s what independence means to me. I’ve never been overly patriotic, but I’m not going to shit on someone because they think America’s the greatest. Unless, of course, they don’t rock with marginalized people the way that we all should.

Today’s Quickies doesn’t really have a big overarching theme, except a freedom to be oneself. Be that a parent, a teacher, a rap superstar or whomever you want to be, as long as you’re not harming or negatively impacting other people’s freedoms to just exist, do you. Humans will never agree on everything. Someone will argue about a rock and say it’s an egg. That said, we should try to respect each other and try to help each other when it comes to protecting freedoms and such. We all have the same 60-90 years on this planet. Would you rather spend them being shitty to other people who just want to live–or are you going to spend it elevating everyone around you.
