Mondaii’s (pronounced “Monday”) “Food 4 Thought” is an interesting track. That’s because it’s equally parts Saucy Santana’s swagger and Kendrick’s lyricism. The track finds finds the young artist opening up about his journey as a queer Black man who happens to rap his proverbial ass off. During this “journey to self-realization,” we find what he’s made of. It’s one of those tracks that bears souls while also building up the mythos of the artist.
The small-town-born artist (he was born in Thomaston, Georgia) finds influences in a lot of artists and it shows here. I love the frankness of Mondaii’s lyrics on this track. If this is any indication, like many of the other artists I’ve featured on here, you’ll be seeing a lot more of Mondaii in the coming months and years.
