Above, we’ve got the latest from English singer/songwriter Arlissa, the afrobeats-meets-pop-R&B offering “Don’t Txt Your Ex.” I love this song, because it’s upbeat and offers some honest-to-goodness truths. We can’t go back to our exes just because things seem convenient. As Summer Walker said, “[they’re] your ex for a reason.” That rings true here as well, as Arlissa contemplates going back, wondering if she truly learned her lesson. Thankfully for her, cooler heads prevail and we got this bop of a “let me not go back to the past” song for us to listen and learn from.

On top of that, I love her vocals as they’re crisp and have a bite to them. However, there’s also a sweetness to them as well. The end result is a track where Arlissa does indeed learn her lesson and proceeds to move on and heal.
