An uplifting fusion of rap and R&B, Black queer artist eli feier’s “All My Friends Are Gold” is one of those cuts that is lovely. However, within that loveliness, the track also has a lot to say. In the face of the world constantly trying to beat us down, this song exists to say “even in that face, you’re still amazing and still awesome.” I’m totally here for that sort of energy. I’m also a fan of the production, as it blends minimalistic pop and hip-hop together in a way that’s unique and defiant against the “mainstream” thought processes. I love this one (a common theme of SOTB-featured songs; I mean, who wants to listen to something I hate?), especially because of its uniqueness and positivity.
